Operation Fresh Start Construction Update: Home Nears Dry-In Phase

Construction continues to move forward on the Operation Fresh Start home, with major milestones reached this week as the structure approaches full dry-in.

The Valor Development crew, working alongside additional local trades, has completed roof installation and is actively setting windows and exterior doors. With only two windows and one exterior door remaining, the goal is to have the home fully dried in by tomorrow morning, weather permitting.

Operation Fresh Start Construction Update: Home Nears Dry-In Phase

Reaching the dry-in phase is a critical step that allows interior work to proceed efficiently and protects the structure from seasonal conditions.

Interior Framing Underway

Inside the home, interior framing is now well underway. Walls are going up, workspaces are being organized, and the build is transitioning from structural framing into the next major phase. Once framing is completed, the project will move into rough electrical and rough plumbing, followed by finish work as materials and scheduling allow.

This progress represents weeks of coordinated effort and on-site problem solving — especially important in mountain construction environments where timing, weather, and logistics matter.

Community-Powered Construction

This home is being built entirely through donated labor, materials, and out-of-pocket contributions. The homeowner is not being charged for the work.

To date, approximately $20,000 in donations have been received, helping push the project to its current stage. However, as anyone familiar with residential construction understands, completing a full home requires significant ongoing resources.

Continued donations and volunteer support remain essential as the project advances into mechanical systems and finish phases.

Project Acknowledgments

This build would not be possible without the support of local businesses and skilled trades who stepped up when it mattered most. Valor Development extends sincere thanks to:

  • Cordova Builders for assistance with exterior framing

  • Beach Redi Mix for donating concrete materials

  • Westcliffe Concrete for providing concrete labor

  • Central Building Supply for major material support

  • Mountain View Window and Door for donated windows and doors

  • Goldleaf Plumbing for volunteering plumbing services

  • Headley Electric LLC for volunteering electrical work

These contributions reflect the strength of local trades and the power of community-driven construction.

What’s Next

With dry-in imminent, the focus shifts to mechanical rough-ins, inspections, and continued coordination of volunteers and materials. Updates will continue as the project progresses through each phase of construction.

Those interested in supporting the project — through skilled labor, materials, or financial contributions — are encouraged to reach out directly.
